Suggest Treatment For Staph Infection On My Face
A long course of penicillin might help.
Detailed Answer:
Hello Mrs. XXXXX,
Welcome to healthcaremagic.com and thanks for posting your query.
I have gone through your problem carefully and I understand that you have tried everything possible.
Considering the long duration of your symptoms, I would suggest you to try a long course of penicillin (Plain/regular penicillin injections) along with a topical application of either mupirocin or retapamulin will be effective.
I suggest penicillin because there is a chance that the strain of staphylococcus causing infections in you might be sensitive to it, in which case penicillin works wonders. A course of penicillin injections for 21 days will be effective in eradicating the virulent strain of Staphylococcus Aureus from your skin, you would also benefit from povidon iodine baths/scrubs twice a week for a few weeks.
You can confirm if the bacteria is sensitive to penicillin or not by doing an antibiogram (Culture and sensitivity test), the fluid from the boils must be sent for this test.
If the bacteria is resistant to penicillin, then you will need to take other antibiotics orally like 4th generation cephalosporins or clindamycin etc based on the sensitivity report.
I hope this information will be of help to you, please write back with details about the treatments you have been on for the problem so that I can suggest specific solutions.
Wishing you good health.
Kind regards.

Sorry, but there are no natural "things".

Hello Mrs. XXXXX
Thanks for writing back.
You have been put on the right medicines but, without knowing for how long you were asked to take the medicines each time and without an antibiogram it would not be possible for me to say if the treatment was truly appropriate or not.
As for repeated infections following surgeries, yes, hospital stays do expose one to particularly virulent strains of bacteria that are resistant to most antibiotics and they are quite difficult to treat.
You can try Iodine baths/scrubs twice weekly for 4 to 6 weeks (You must first make sure you have no thyroid problem for this), using iodine baths will overload your body with iodine which is not good. Instead of iodine, you can use savalon or listerine as well.
There are no natural remedies for staph infections, so I am sorry I can't help you there.
I wish you will be alright soon, thanks again for choosing healthcaremagic.com for your health related query, it is my pleasure to answer your questions.
