Thanks for your reply. However, I do have stiffness in both knees when I get up but the right knee hurts and that is the one I had the cortisone in - I had two shots late last year but had very little relief so never went back to the doctor. The left knee the one I had the total replacement hurts at times, especially when I do a lot of walking.

I do take blood pressure medication

to get a copy of my x ray I know would not be possible at the moment.

If there are any other questions please let me know - I am standing by again thanks a million for your attention.

Brief Answer:
Accupuncture is not definitive solution

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
I have read your answers and I think you have to think of knee replacement for other knee also. Not only because of pain and stiffness but because when you get one knee operated you tend to put more weight on operated knee and that increases chances of failure of surgery.
I think this is the reason you feel pain on operated site when you walk or stand for long time.
Steroid injection is not a solution for knee arthritis because it provide temporary relief and It damages knee cartilage as well.
Accupuncture has no side effect and you can use it for pain relief but it does not have any direct effect on your knee arthritis, so you have to use it for long time and It may become ineffective as pain increases.
So in my opinion think in term of knee replacement on other side as well.
I hope this answer your query. Let me know if you want to ask any thing else.
Thanks and take care.

Hello Dr. Sharma:

May I call you Dr. Sharma? Thanks for your reply. I am a coward and after my knee surgery I said if every my other knee goes bad I will never have surgery I really could not take another knee surgery that is my reason for trying accupuncture to see if I would get some help, actually the stiffness when I get up is what bothers me - its very embarrassing when I go somewhere and sit for a long time to get up its embarrassing - so you don't think that's a good idea, so I will keep with my tylenol. Thanks so very much for your help.

I have a Doctor in XXXXXXX that I talk to quite often on another Q & A like this one. Where are you - I hope I get you again whenever I have another question. Again thanks a lot. Have a nice day.
