Orthopedic Surgeon
Wanted to know why if been going to physical theraphy since 4-29 (3 times weekly) still walking with a limp now with a cane and feel stiffness makes it hard to lift my left leg at times . I was told by therapist its at 5 degrees s/b at 10 degrees . She says my leg is coming Along slowly . Cant crunch my toes all the way down she says it could neuropathy with my diabetes
Dont know what else to do to get rid of this stiffness . Not feeling as much the plate discomfort in my left leg as much as last week been keeping leg elevated on pillows When go down the stairs lack more mobility
And tend to use my shoulders more due to leg stiffness.
Monday going to start oxygen theraphy to help heel my ankle wound quicker to see if this will help
Any suggestions to help get rid of this limp and stiffness ?
Will it really take a year before walking normally since did operation orif 6 screws plate and one screw for ankle joint that was loose on right side of left leg
These are pics how my left leg looks today
Right side of left leg has healed on ankle skin and left side which has 6 screws taking longer . Both screws totals 7 on left leg
The wound is much better now.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Your leg looks much better than before now that swelling has reduced. The stiffness will gradually decrease with physiotherapy. Regular hot compress and oxygen therapy will reduce the stiffness.
The limp will improve as the leg and its muscles gain back the normal strength. Proper healing and exercise are needed for that. Keep your blood glucose levels well under control.
I hope this answers your query.
