Suggest Treatment For Stiffness Of The Ankles Caused By Rheumatoid Arthritis

Question: Hi...When I wake up in the morning or after sitting at my desk....my ankles are stiff and my feet and ankles remain in a 90 degree or "L" shaped configuration. In other words I walk like a duck for about ten minutes. I am 58...is this a function of age? I have osteoarthris/ degenerative disc disease in my lower 3 discs but nosigns of arthritis in other joints. I do have similar symptoms in my elbows at times......decreased flexibility and they can get locked in one position for a few seconds. Could this be a problem with the connective tissues?
Brief Answer:
Can be rheumatoid arthritis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The restricted joint movement that you have can be related to rheumatoid arthritis. A direct examination and few investigations will help in proper diagnosis. Till then a hot compress and regular physiotherapy to maintain the muscle tone in the joint areas will help.
I hope this answers your query.
