Suggest Treatment For Stinging Sensation On The Penis Tip

Question: Hello. I have a moderate stinging at the tip of my penis. It comes and goes. Sometimes I feel it in intervals of 10 to 20 seconds, and sometimes several minutes. Each time, it only lasts a brief second long. I also feel an urge to urinate with it, alough it's often a false alarm. My frequency and volume and stream of urination hasn't been affected by this. Also, there's no increase in pain while urinating. This whole thing started 2 days ago. I know of nothing I did that could have caused this. I went to the doctor yesterday and had a urine test done. The immediate test came back negative for an infection, but it will be sent to the lab for a more thorough analysis. I don't think it's an STD, as I haven't been sexually active for a long time and have only been sexually active with my wife over the past 15 years, since we've been together. If it's not an STD and the urine test comes back negative for an infection, what else could it be?

Brief Answer:
Possibility of chemical urethritis

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query in detail and I have noted down your concern.

This does nt seem like an STD or urinary tract infection.
I would like to keep a possibility of chemical urethritis.
Soap bubbles can get into urethra through meatus while taking a bath and cause irritation of lining mucosa of anterior urethra.
Chemical urethritis usually manifests as off and on, stinging and burning sensation.
This condition is self resolving in a day or two.
I suggest you to take precautions in this regard i.e avoid using a soap on glans penis. You may use plain lukewarm water to clean the area.

Regards
