I'm on Advair, albuterol inhalation solution, Combivent Respimat, Spiriva. I can't send the xrays because this is not my computer and my sister won't let me save anything on here. They say my emphysemas severe. I'm on oxygen but am now having more trouble breathing than before and coughing more. I get sweaty and lose energy and have a lot of trouble breathing when I have those attacks. I'm worried about the gas exchange as I've read it can lead to respiratory failure. Should I have the ABG done?
Brief Answer:
Severe emphysema
Detailed Answer:
Hello
I would like to apologise for the short delay in my reply to you. It was a very busy day at the hospital.
From the treatment history you have given me it looks like you certainly have severe emphysema.
I suggest you to get a ABG done without oxygen to know the status if your body. It will tell you the percentage of oxygen and also carbon dioxide retension
I also suggest you to do the following
1. Avoid closed places with bad ventilation
2. Always travel with your bronchodilators
3. Avoid strenous physical activities
4 Stop smoking and dont be a passive smoker as well
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
Regards
