Suggest Treatment For Stomach Ulcer And Stabbing Pain Under Rib Cage

default
Posted on Wed, 10 Dec 2014
Question: Hi, I was diagnosed with a stomach ulcer a few days ago and prescribed Lansoprazole.. The acute stabbing pain under my rib cage has stopped but is replaced by a more general stomach pain, as if it is badly bruised. The pain is stopping me from sleeping and I dare not cough because of the pain. I am no longer vomiting though. There was no blood when I vomited. Is there anything that would relieve the pain please? XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
add another antacid

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your query.
I think I would be able to help you.

The symptoms of gastritis y
Usually start the way you have mentioned. The wall of the stomach may have been damaged quite a bit to cause such pain. The antacid must be slowly helping allowing the improvement in pain.

Ideally pain killers have to be avoided. Taking them will only worsen the gastritis.

I therefore suggest a syrup to you. The syrup is a combination of 2 medicines. It'd called sucralfate o. As the name suggests ,it has sucralfate, a mucoprotective. And oxetacaine. Together the combination should relieve you.
Try 3 tablespoon thrice a day.

I am sure it will help.
test in lipase and amylase if not tested already.

I hope that the information helps you.

Thank you. Do I have to get the syrup on prescription or can I buy it over the counter? What is the brand name please? I cannot get to the chemist as I am in too much pain to drive (I live alone) but my neighbour will help. Thank you.
