The stone in right ureter not always possible to treat with medicines
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.
Your mother has multiple stones in the urinary system.
Right kidney shows a 16 mm stone in the lower pole area and 8 mm stone in the inter pole area. There is also another 14 mm stone which is stuck in the ureter which is a tube connecting the kidney to urinary bladder.
Left kidney shows a lower pole stone measuring 13 mm.
Right now the problem is due to the 14 mm stone in the right ureter which is causing obstruction to flow of urine from kidney to urinary bladder.
This stone is a big one and treatment with only medicines is not always possible. There are some medicines which can be given to allow the smooth muscles in the ureter to cause forward movement of the stone. This needs to be discussed with your urologist doctor.
It is important to know the kidney function and if the stone is causing problems to the right kidney. Usually kidney is affected only is the stone is stuck in the ureter for more than 10 days and if this occurs then the stone is to be removed surgery.
Regarding the other stones in the kidneys, it looks like your mother has a tendency for kidney stones. The stones can be blasted using shock wave lithotripsy and made in to small fragments which will then pass through normal means without much discomfort.
