Suggest Treatment For Stye On Eyelid
All the required information to help you out
Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.
Thank you for writing to us.
I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. The thing with a stye is that it is in majority of cases recurrent due to insufficient information/knowledge shared with the patient about the condition.
A stye is an infection of the eyelid caused due to a blocked gland, and although the blockage can take place due to various reasons, the individual needs to understand that in majority of cases it recurs due to some amount of the previous infective tissue being left behind.
So let me list the most accurate and effective methods of treating a stye and at the same time preventing recurrences, because I know how annoying, painful and at times even embarrassing a stye can be. They are:
+Hot fomentation: It is the single most important and effective method of treating a stye and also preventing future recurrences. It can be done either by taking steam inhalation several times a day (3-5 times a day), along with a hot (clean) cloth with either hot chunks of salt in it (heated over a pan and placed into the cloth) and then placed over the affected eyelid. This has to be done as many times as possible, and even if possible through the entire day.
+Hot water showers
+Avoid touching your affected eye with your hand, and if you do then make sure you wash your hand immediately, and especially prevent touching your other eye with this hand
+Wash hands and face regularly
+If a cloth is being used for the hot fomentation, do not repeat it for the next application
+Use a clean tissue to clean any discharge from the eye and dispose of it well enough, without reusing it too many times
+Application of antibiotic topical gel twice daily (e.g tobramycin)
Please go about the hot fomentation as many times as possible initially, until the swelling completely disappears. Once it does, do not stop the hot fomentation, continue it for at least another 6 weeks to ensure prevention of recurrences.
I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.
Best wishes.
