Suggest Treatment For Subconjunctival Hemorrhage

Posted on Tue, 9 Aug 2016
Question: I seem to have a broken bloods vessel, but it's not visible when I look in the mirror, it's in my vision. My right eve, the inner part of my vision. It doesn't hurt. It's an irregular dark line that moves as I blink or move my eye. It extends up to the top of my vision. I am not sure whether to go to the emergency room.

Brief Answer:
Subconjunctival hemorrhage

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

You seem to be giving a good description of blood leaking into the conjunctival sac which is over the white part of the eye ball.
Technically we call it Sub conjunctival hemorrhage. Mild hemorhhages like the one you described absorb on their own, per se do not require any treatment. Just wear goggles when you go out, hot pads for couple of minutes if it pains.
However as a clinician I would like to know the root cause of such hemorrhage if they are recurrent. Hence you need a work up by an Ophthalmologist.
I suggest you to take an appointment with some one locally.
ER physicians are not trained to identify the cause. Hence I suggest appointment.

Thank you for your answer.

You write that I should wear goggles when I go out. I don't know what you mean. Do you mean sunglasses?

Brief Answer:
Yes UV protected sun glasses

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am sorry for the vagueness, what I mean was protect the eyes from sun, wind, dust and pollen. So it can be sunglasses that covers the eyes completely.
