Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Welcome to health care magic,

Sudden cough could be due to upper respiratory infection (acute pharyngitis).

Do you have any other symptoms apart from cough?

Since how long you have cough or it just appeared suddenly in night?

Kindly provide some more information.

You may need full course of antibiotics
(quinolones or macrolides preferred) for at least 5 to 7 days to prevent any super-infection.

Avoid cold water or drinks.

Take steam inhalation and steroid nebulizers regularly or till the infection subsides.

Avoid exposure of dust.

Get back to me with more information.
