Suggest Treatment For Sunken Lobe Of Left Lung
Question: I have been told I have a sunken lobe of my left lung. How serious is this and what treatment is recommended
Brief Answer:
Need to know few more things.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
Shrunken lobe can be due to many things like
1. Congenital
2. Fibrosis and scarring
3. Post obstruction
4. under development of rib cage. Etc
So for treatment, we need to identify the cause first.
I also want to know few things.
1. Do you smoke?
2. What are your symptoms?
3. Since how long you are having symptoms?
4. Have you undergone CT THORAX?
Whatever tests done so far like x ray, please upload all reports on right side of your dashboard.
So severity and treatment can only be explained after knowing the etiology.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Fibrosis or post Obstructive collapse is more like
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your follow up question.
Since you are non smoker and having breathlessness on exertion since 3 months,
In my opinion you are having fibrosis or post Obstructive collapse.
And for proper diagnosis of this you need to consult pulmonologist and get done CT THORAX, PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) and Bronchoscopy.
And treatment is different in different etiologies so we need to first diagnose the cause and then start treatment.
So consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.
