Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Bruising On Top Of The Foot

Question: I slipped going down a trail this morning and I think I twisted my foot backwards. It hurt some, but I got up and finished the short hike back with little to no pain. Oddly, though, a few hours later, it started hurting more and more, to the point I was limping. Now I can hardly walk. There's only a little swelling on top of my foot and no bruising. I was told several years ago that I have an autoimmune disease, but doctor's were never able to diagnose what kind. I'm wondering if the injury may have kicked off an autoimmune response. I'm just puzzled at how it could go from being fine for hours and then progressing to barely being able to walk on it. Do you have any ideas what could be going on?
Brief Answer:
Could be a Minor fracture in the foot
Detailed Answer:
Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel , Orthopedic Surgeon
I have read the details and in my opinion your fall has lead to a minor fracture in the foot.Sometimes the pain is not immediately severe but if you keep on using it , because of repeated micro injury, the pain and swelling appear.
Your Injury has nothing to do with any auto immune disorder , and auto immune disorder is not kicked off by injuries.
I suggest you apply Ice , take pain killers and get an x ray of your foot.
I hope it answers your question . Pl do not hesitate to ask further questions.
