Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Chest Pain
not likely related to heart or kidney disease
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
As his doctors mentioned, these symptoms are not likely related to the heart or kidney.
Heart disease is usually associated with heart related symptoms (chest pain, palpitations, shortness of breath, swelling of the legs and abdomen, fatigue) .
Kidney disease causes fatigue, swelling, nausea/vomiting (if some bloods abnormal), numbness, loss of appetite , dry skin.
Neither is normally associated with the symptoms that you mentioned.
It may be related to one of his meds , gastrointestinal side effects can occur with some medications. The side effect profile of each of his meds can be checked.
Excess burping/gas can be due to reflux in some cases, this is the reason that his doctors would have given the anti acid. They can sometimes take a week to come into effect because they cannot get rid of the acid already present only decrease future production (depending on which one he was given)
Some cases of severe reflux can be due to the presence of the h pylori bacteria which can be assessed by blood tests, a scope to take a look , making sure there is no blockage affecting swallowing, may also be needed.
Other causes are: (1) use of gas producing foods- broccoli, cabbage, turnips, beans, brussel sprouts, prunes, apples, carbonated drinks
(2) lactose intolerance or particular intolerance to certain foods (a food diary would help with this)
(3) celiac disease
I hope this helps , feel free to ask any other questions
