Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Discoloration On The Toes Post Injury

default
Posted on Mon, 12 Dec 2016
Question: I believe I broke my toe last evening when I ran into the frame of the bed. It is swollen, black and blue, very tender and terrible pain when I try to walk on it. The toe use to be straight and is now towards and slightly laying over the toe to the right of it. Besides elevation and ice, is there anything I need to do? Is it important to have it x-rayed or is it true that nothing can be done (so why bother with x-ray)?

Brief Answer:
Xrays should be done

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
I think that xrays should be done. Since in some cases it can be manually repositioned and also it should be immobilized with plaster. Considering this photo there may be fracture..Of course, nothing serious will happen if you don't treat, but some.degree of deformity may persist if there was a fracture. Wish you good health. Regards
