I have no diseases and have never had a hernia before, however for many months periodically when walking, my right testicle (the same side as the swelling) would have a pain. After sleeping on my back for 8 hours (last night) the swelling, in the right groin area, is down and it feels better.
The groin area still aches when I walk. It is still swollen, but less after the 8 hours of sleep and it is still numb down to part of the right testicle. Once in a while I feel a burning sensation.
Yes. I just remembered, the neurologist diagnosed my back as causing the numbness on the bottom of my feet and toes. This began years ago.

Hi,
Swelling in the groin can be due to the following reasons.
Bubonocele that is starting of a hernia which is not easily noticeable. The 'ilioinguinal' nerve can get stretched over it to cause the typical pains and burning as you have mentioned.
Local trauma to the pubic ramus by stretch of the muscles also can cause similar problems. This is called Pubic Osteitis with inflammation of the nerve.
This can be diagnosed well by a proper clinical examination and supported by relevant investigations to have a proper diagnosis so that a proper management can be undertaken.
Please get examined by your Doctor, discuss these issues as mentioned above.
Yes, problems with back compressing the said nerve also can cause similar symptoms.
Please give feedback once a proper clinical evaluation, examination and investigations are done. All the best.
Take care.
Regards

Thank you very much.
One last question: I am working now for 3 more weeks and will not be able to see a physician. - Is there anything I can do to alleviate and/or minimize any additional complication or progression of this condition during these 3 weeks?

Hi,
Avoid any activity that you have noticed to instigate or enhance the symptoms. Keep the stools soft if any problem like constipation or hard stools. Take an anti-inflammatory with painkiller properties like Ibuprofen if it suits you. Avoid extreme changes of temperature.
Take care. Feel free to ask for any further queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
