Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Pain Around The Healed Wound On Tibia

default
Posted on Thu, 5 Feb 2015
Question: I fell off my bike 2 weeks ago and landed on my side, with deep grazing on my knee , particularly over the prominent notch of bone at the top of my tibia on the lateral side. The skin wounds are now healed after using hydrocolloid dressings, but this area of bone is still psinful and is twice the size of the corresponding site on my other leg. I can walk and cycle OK, but it hurts a bit when getting up after sitting down for a while. Is this lump to be expected.? Nothing to worry about? I'm 55 years old male.

Brief Answer:
It is soft tissue swelling ,it is expected ,nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting your query on healhcaremagic

After going through your query, I understand that you got injury 2 weeks back. Your skin wound healed but your area where you got injury has swelling.

As you can walk and cycle, it is unlikely to be bony injury or ligament injury. It is likely due to soft tissue injury. It is usual to have swelling. Analgesic such as ibuprofen help in reducing pain. Mobilization exercises and quadriceps exercises will help in reducing swelling. Vitamin B and C will be help in resolve it.You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help.

Wishing you a good health. Take care.
