Brief Answer:
Probably strained ankle.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

If you remember, you strained your ankle, the swelling and numbness could be related to blood accumulated into ankle articulation.

If no straining, another cause of swelling and numbness could be arthritis.

In both cases, x-rays films of the ankle needed to confirm the diagnosis.

In both cases rest with the ankle above body level and NSAID drugs help improve symptoms.

If strained ankle, putting ice on it also improves symptoms.

I suggest you to discuss these issues with your primary care Doctor.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
