It's a pineapple palm tree. I pulled the thorn out of the finger but hard to tell if any residue is left in finger. Finger is not discolored , just sore and swollen and warm around the puncture wound (pulsating a bit). the pain traveled down teh middle of the palm (inside of hand) initially but less so now. Finger tip has a numbing sensation (but it's the pulsating/blood circulation) giving that sensation I think. Don't have a way to measure blood pressure. Heart rate, about 67 beats/min. No fever. Just need the signs what to look for in case it's believed to be more serious, or if it develops over weekend (emergency room need vs GP visit on Monday).
I also have some Doxicycline/ anti-biotic on hand, but it's 5 + years old and thinking it's way past shelf life to do anything?

Brief Answer:
You may wait till monday.
Detailed Answer:
Generally you have some symptoms of nerve compression and impeded blood flow due to swelling. Lack of fever and correct blood pressure rules out an infection. So in my opinion you may wait and see. I suggest you to start some antiallergic medicine like Loratadine or Levocetrizine (this one is better). Put some lukewarm compress on it and keep your hand a little bit higher (on the pillow) while sleeping.
In case of fever, sweating, worsening of the swelling, accelerated heart rate (over 100) ER is a good address. Otherwise you may wait till Monday.
Regards.
