Brief Answer:
Can be due to joint stiffness.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The swelling in the area of ankle after a fracture can be due to restricted movement of the ankle joint and low levels of calcium and vitamin D3. Repeated fractures do cause a joint stiffness. keeping the leg elevated and regular physiotherapy will help in reducing the swelling. Do get an X-ray done to radiologically confirm if the fracture site has healed or not.
I hope this answers your query.
