I have gone through your query and understand your concern. For arthritis you can take glucosamine, it will be beneficial. For pain relief you can take analgesic such as ibuprofen. As you have only swelling of legs. So should rule out deep vein thrombosis by Venogram of legs. You can also investigate for other causes of swelling such as kidney function by blood urea test and thyroid function( T3, T4 and TSH ) . You can discuss with your doctor about it.
Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.
Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
