Suggest Treatment For Swelling On The Fingers
Question: First joint right hand, pointer finger is swollen on top. Not typical of arthritis, but rather on top below nail. Nail is growing wavy. Initially some burning pain which is now minimal. Thank you.
Brief Answer:
Ganglion cyst seems most probable.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
The most probable reason of this swelling is a ganglion cyst. If so, the swelling should be soft and kind of rounded. The cyst can appear after some minor injury (like carrying something heavy for example).
Ganglion cyst is a kind of herniation coming from the ligament or joint. It is filled with clear fluid. Can come and go.
I suggest you to have an x-ray of this finger and soft tissues ultrasound. The cyst can be removed or steroid can be injected inside. However removal is much more effective.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
