Suggest Treatment For Swelling On The Leg

Question: My left leg has been swollen for the past 2-3 days, following a minor fall during which I hit the gravel ground just below my left knee (which has moderate arthritis) and on my left hip. It's painful to walk or apply weight on that leg, although I still walk (and played golf yesterday). My concern is possible clotting or DVT. I'm 73, weigh 239 on a 6'1" frame. my current BP is 143/82 -- both numbers about 10 points higher than normal. Pulse is 50. I take 5 mg of warfarin daily for atrial fib and regularly see my primary care provider. I have an appmt with my chiropractor Monday. my question is whether I should go to the emergency room to check for possible clotting/DVT today. Thanks, XXXX ()
Brief Answer:
The possibility of DVT is low, warfarin is protective against clotting
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.
The chances of development of deep vein thrombosis are very low because you are taking warfarin.
Warfarin is a drug which inhibits clotting in veins of the body.
so, do not worry and relax.
Thanks
