Hello, if toes are purplish your circulation is impaired please get a doppler Ultrasound scan of the lower limbs done .

I am 56yr old female, agoraphobic. I have struggled with my weight most of my life and it has become a XTRA LARGE issuse fot me the last fifteen years, I have put on pounds at an alarming rate and have tried so hard not to, I'm three times the person I was in my thirties. I have problems with my sciatica and my feet/ankles are always swollen and stiff in the morning. And my toes are puffy and purplish color. All of these things weigh on my mind and bother me.
But my concern today is with my right foot, there are no broken bones that I can tell, and the bottom isn't painfull at any time (other than the callouses that have taken on a growth of their own), It's the top of my foot, it's swollen and red and feels like the skin is going to rip apart when I lower it to stand or walk. Keeping it elevated and putting an ice pack on it usually helps with the swelling on top, but it's always red and a bit purple and sore. It's been like this for a long time, some days are worse than others, and walking or standing make it much worse.
I have included photos.
Any ideas what might be causing other than my afforementioned personal description
?

Brief Answer:
It is cellulitis
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Thank you for posting your question on HealthcareMagic.
The images and your description both point towards cellulitis which is an infection of the skin and subcutaneous tissue .
Are you diabetic? If so you need extra care about your sugars to allow it to heal better .
As if now always keep your foot elevated. Apply crepe bandage .
You could start taking Tab Augmentin DUO and start applying Natifloxacin ointment.
Venous doppler scan of the leg is also recommended to rule out any block in the circulation .
Hope this helps
Best wishes
