Question: Hi, I noticed a couple of cost-like small swollen bumps in my "crease" on the upper inside of my right thigh a couple of days ago after going to the gym.. where I sat in hot tub and steam room.. showered and noticed what I thought maybe was a bit of swollen glands in that area... I thought to put ice on it and see if it helped.. it did seem to help a bit but noticed I thought the under skin bumps moved a bit up the crease..?? Then I noticed today as it got a little red around the area that the bump or cost got what looked like a black head kinda like a bad zit and well had same time had an unfortunate incident with my Mom 86 years young yesterday who fell at home today breaking her hip.. ouch.. so even though the "wound" hurt some with friction of pants / underwear and standing/sitting through the day at the hospital.. I noticed it hurt like a zit kinda and just got home and look at it and it had burst like a zit and bled/ a little puss... so..cleaned with warm water and soap a few times letting it soak a bit and release more puss/blood.. (not a lot but like a zit?) Then put neosporin on it and a couple of bandaids as i need some sleep before returning to the hospital to speak with Orthopedic Surgeon for my Moms surgery tomorrow and well.. noticed a few left over Amoxicillin left 500 mg.. and thought maybe it would help to take them as well .. one a day as there are three and see if it goes away and heals... ?? Should I take the Amoxicillin? The only type of allergy reaction I had previously when I was a kid was Penicillin so thinking I picked up some kind of skin infection that caused this and if I take one Amoxicillin now and another tomorrow just in case it should help with this if it is in fact an infection which it seems likely?? No time to see Doc until after getting my Mom settled so the wound area seems better ...like it would a pinched zit.. and now have Neosporin on it with band aids to cover and now want to sleep a few hours before returning to the hospital to speak with Surgeon to do hip surgery for Mom.. So, what does it sound like to you? Seems like it is draining and getting less swelling after warm water and soft soak .. neosporin covered..>> Now wondering if I should take the Amoxicillin now too to be on the safe side??? Thanks.. Brief Answer:
You better avoid Pencillin

Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description, the infected lesions have burst letting out the pus.
As you had reaction with Pencillin, it's better to avoid Amoxycillin as they both belong to same group .
As you can't consult a Doctor, you clean the wound daily and apply Neosporin. Neosporin is an antibiotic cream. It's better to cover the wound with Sterile pad and apply plaster.
Nothing to worry. It will come down.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
