Question: my left instep swells when I wear sandals. This does not happen when I wear shoes or sneakers.

It's possible that your have plantar fascitis.

The arch supports in shoes are better than sandals which provide better insole countour than sandals.

Do get examined by an Orthopaedician to rule out flat foot which can also present similarly.
