Question: Can a muscle strain in the leg or a ligament tear or any other type of injury like these cause your groin lymph nodes to swell?
Brief Answer:
Not until there is an infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
To recapitulate: Male/23 - wants to know whether muscle strain, ligament tear or any other injury in leg can cause enlargement of groin lymph nodes...
Such injuries do not cause enlargement of lymph nodes unless there is any infection.
The commonest cause of enlarged lymph nodes is infection in the drainage area.
I hope this answers your specific query, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.

Brief Answer:
As discussed in details below.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback.
Certainly yes, a lump persisting for a month is a concern.
I would advise you the following:
Get an Ultrasound done to see what is making the swelling and if it is due to lymph node, request for FNAC means fine needle aspiration cytology.
This will give he correct diagnosis.
Does the swelling increase on coughing and reduce on pressure; any pain or tenderness? Or any other symptoms?
As discussed in details below.

The swelling does not increase on cough and does not reduce on pressure. I am almost sure that it is a lymph node. The swelling started off very large about a month ago to the point that it was visible. Now it is barely visible because it has gone down but it is still not back to normal. The only thing i can think of is that i was sick with a throat infection a month ago or that my leg in my groin area still hurts from my accident. How long should it be until it is back to normal size?
Brief Answer:
1-3 weeks for lymph node regression
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback.
Noted it well, good to know that this is not a hernia as per the history you have provided.
Usually it takes about 1-3 weeks for lymph nodes to regress on proper medication.
Anything more than three weeks should be investigated.
Please go for Ultrasonography and FNAC if advised by by your General Surgeon on clinical evaluation.
