From the description it might be a common viral pharyngitis or a viral infection common in child called infective mononucleosis that doesn't require specific treatment apart from rest,stay hydrated and keep the fever down.
Another possible reason is strep throat .I would suggest to try to see her throat and if you notice swollen tonsils with white spots on them ,you should consult a physician because she might need antibiotics.
A fever of 102-102 it not so high to require immediate medical care.You can give her Ibuprofen or Tylenol every 6 hours.
She should rest,eat well, drink plenty of fluids and see how she will be.
It would be a good idea to consult her pediatrician for examination just to exclude a bacterial tonsillitis as the cause of such symptoms because in this case she might need a course of antibiotics.

I totally understand your concern.Most commonly they are caused from a viral infection,and are self-limiting condition.After running their course the symptoms go away gradually without causing any complication.
They don't require specific treatment ,only supportive one (rest,hydration and care for the fever).
A bacterial infection of tonsils (strep throat) should be excluded because it can cause very similar symptoms.In this case tonsils are swollen ,with white spots and it and the fever tends to stay very high (over 102) .
If her tonsils are only moderately swollen and red without white spots and the fever is moderate (under 102) most likely it is due to a viral infection.In this case you can wait 2-3 days to see if her symptoms will improve.
