Suggest Treatment For Swollen, Painful And Red Cut On Ankle
Question: I shaved on Saturday & cut myslef on my ankle. It didnt seem like a bad cut so I went on with my day. I later got a pedicure not realizing about my cut. I awoke to it being swollen, painful, red around the cut & the actual cut itself not looking normal. I am a freshman in college & am wondering what is wrong & if there is anything I can do heal it myself. Thank you!
Brief Answer:
Infected skin wound,take proper care
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I have seen the attached picture. You seem to have developed an infected skin wound. The following are my suggestions to you.
1. Keep the affected area clean and dry.
2. Wash with lukewarm saline water twice daily and apply a topical antibiotic cream like mupirocin or neosporin over it.
3. Take some oral anti inflammatory agents like ibuprofen or paracetamol twice daily for the associated pain and swelling
You might need a course of oral antibiotics if the infection tends to persist or increase.
