Suggest Treatment For Swollen Painful Black Blue Bruises On Left Arm
Question: My wife has a black blue bruises on here left arm it's now a week and swollen and painful
Brief Answer:
Probably a hematoma
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Since she's on blood thinners, bruised areas would usually be hematomas. Hematomas commonly need a couple of weeks or more to be - slowly - absorbed. If it's very warm or tensed you'd better visit your doctor immediately because this could be a sign of infection.
Do you recall any injury?

Brief Answer:
Nothing more for now
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Ice is beneficial for the first 48-72 hours. It's not supposed to help after that.
As I wrote in my previous answer, you should be concerned if the skin is tense which means worsening of the edema (which may affect the arm blood supply). Warmth means inflammation or infection. You can also check the body temperature on the opposite armpit (not the swollen one).
So in conclusion, you can't do anything else for now.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
