default
Posted on Mon, 25 Jul 2016
Question: I had a vasectomy today about 8 hours ago. It was my second one because the first one didn't work. My scrotum is swollen and about the size of a grapefruit. I have had ice on it most of the day. Should I be concerned or wait till morning to see if the swelling goes down.

Brief Answer:
It could be due to Hematoma

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .
Based on the facts that you have stated swelling of the scrotum that you have developed after surgery of vasectomy today is mostly due to hematoma .
and needs to be confirmed at earliest .

Please consult the operating surgeon for examination and get ultrasound scanning of the scrotum done to confirm the same .

If needed he may open up the suture line drain the hematoma and ligate the bleeding point .In the mean while apply a tight pressure bandage over scrotum .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions , I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards.
