Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of GERD
Question: Hello my husband is a 46 year old male, hx of type II diabetes, Kidney stones, sleep apnea and is of Scandinavian descent . He is over weight and out of shape.
Current c/o pain and burning in his esophageal area while eating swallowing or drinking ( any temperature)and it started three days ago with a sore throat
no fever, no trouble breathing , pulse is strong and 68
denies pain in the abdomen and with some movement
Meds: tylenol 1000, two tums and one generic Prilosec
he is in Fowlers postions

Your husband is probably having reflux disease. It is due to gastric acid reflux into the esophagous. Give him an antacid tablet once daily and syrup antacid like gelusil 2 teaspoons three times a day.
Avoid spicy foods and aerated drinks.Drink plenty of water. Take small but frequent meals. Take a walk daily. Try to reduce some weight.
