Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of GERD
GERD, achalasia, gastroparesis
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
It is possible that the regurgitation may be due to GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease).
This is one of the most common reasons for regurgitation, nausea and/or vomiting and the symptoms tend to worse either at night or early morning.
Since it happens infrequently, you may want to determine if there is a link with specific foods. Altering the diet and the use of reflux medication (nexium, prilosec, prevacid etc). These medications can take a few days to take effect in some persons.
Other potential causes are: (1)achalasia- the muscle ring at the bottom of the esophagus does not open properly
(2)gastroparesis- stomach is unable to empty food appropriately. This can occur in: (a)diabetics,
(b)side effect of medication
(c)hypothyroidism (low levels of thyroid hormone)
(d)scleroderma
These are some of the causes of gastroparesis
It would be best to see your doctor for an assessment so that the exact cause can be determined. You may need a scope (endoscopy) , to take a look at the esophagus.
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
