Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of UTI

Question: I am having signs of a bladder infection. I am trying to get through it without going to Doctor ( which is an hour away.) to get a prescription, (during the busy holidays.) I am drinking 4-5 16 oz bottles of water a day in last few days.m, I have stayed in bed and have heating pad on pelvis area to relieve pain. I am also taking IB for pain and drinking 7 up for Nausea. This has lasted about 3 days. What else do you suggest that I do?. I had a little fever, but is gone. I am out of Azo cystitis medication, although I am taking their Cranberry pills!

I appreciate your concern

UTI should be diagnosed ,first. A urine routine examination and culture sensitivit testing can be advised. The urine test results is usually available quickly and if evidence of infection is found then antibiotics can be started empirically after taking sample for urine culture. If the urine examination is normal then other causes should be looked for such as a urinary tract stone. An ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis can be done in this regard. You should pay a visit to your doctor for this purpose and may apprise him of the above.
