Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Hyperthyroidism
Question: Hello,
I'm a w/f, 5'4"/180, 59 yoa. Several surgeries: hysterectomy, laparoscopic gall bladder removal, and 3 separate disc replacements surgeries-4 cervical discs removed. I am under the care of a pain mgmt doctor at his facility and I take numerous meds: fentanyl, Percocet, cyclobenzaprine, Lyrica, alprazolam, Zolpidem, & minvelle. Four about a year now I find my self sweating, sweating when no one else is even warm. Even when it's only 38 for our high. It's uncomfortable and embarrassing since the entire family is very big on hugging hello & good-bye(I really enjoy that about my family) but now that my back is usually damp and the same with my arm pits and several other areas...i find that it's easier for me to avoid get togethers. I don't want to be isolated. Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
Get evaluated for hyper functioning thyroid!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have reviewed your information fully. This is suggestive of a possible hyper functioning thyroid gland. I will normally request for laboratory evaluation of thyroid hormones, especially TSH. This provide insights and guidance. Hyperthyroidism often presents with excessive sweating, anxiety, diarrhea, irritability, fast heart rate, etc.
The best physician to start with is your primary care physician. Also, share results with me so that I can interpret and provide an independent review as well.
