Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Pulmonary Congestion
Question: My husband had an echo cardiogram about 3 weeks ago and it showed leaky aortic and mitral valves. His primary care gave him a referral to a cardiologist for an esophageal echocardiogram and his appointment is not until December 1. He has become short of breath recently and his blood pressure has been high. He also coughs and wheezes when he sleeps. He just coughed up some mucus with blood. I am afraid to wait to see a cardiologist - please advise

Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.
First of all I would like to check your husband cardiac echo reports. Can you please upload the echo reports for me?
Secondly his symptoms suggest for pulmonary congestion and you should start diuretics to relieve his symptoms. If he was my patient I would recommend to take Furosemid and spironolactone.
Thirdly you shouldn't wait till December but you should send him at ER to get a proper treatment based on his cardiac echo.
I'm waiting for the requested data to be uploaded.
Wish you and your family health!

Thank you for your response - we are picking up a copy of his echo report at his doctor's office tomorrow. May I send it then?
Also, he's already on Furosemide 40 mg 2x daily. Thanks!
