Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Seizures In A Child With Down's Syndrome
Question: Hi my granddaughter is 3 1/2 with down syndrome. She has started tensing her whole body and going into a planking position. She could be emptying her toy box playing and next thing you know she is hurrying to get into that position. Do you think it is anything to worry about? Has been doing it for about 2 weeks now. The teacher has even noticed it
Brief Answer:
Needs further evaluation.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through your query. There are two possibilities that bother me.
The first is the possibility of seizures being involved. You would need to record a video of when such a thing happens and then get it evaluated by a doctor.
The next possibility is about hypertonia or increased muscle tone which could make her do such things. This too would require a thorough clinical evaluation. Such a thing can be dealt with through physical therapy.
I would not insist you to ignore it. Yes, please get her evaluated.
Feel free to ask further.
Regards
