Brief Answer:
As long as blisters and rash present, best to avoid contact with baby

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. A 10 day course of acyclovir for shingles is a complete course and you need not continue the medication.

The information that is most important to you right now is that as long as you have the rash and/or the blisters, you can transmit the infection. So until and unless you have the blisters and the rash, I would advise you to keep away from susceptible individuals, especially the infant.

As for the pain, you can try any of the following recommendations ma'am:

+Capsaicin topical cream
+Benzocaine topical anaesthetic
+Oral ibuprofen or acetaminophen

I hope you found my response helpful and reassuring. Please do not hesitate to write to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
