Brief Answer:
Upper respiratory tract infection

Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
Your wide seems to have developed Upper respiratory tract infection (URTI).
This is usually viral in nature.
She should take anti allergic like Levocetrizine one tablet once a day along with Dolo 500 thrice daily for fever and body pains.
She should do warm saline gargles and steam inhalation.
She should drink lukewarm honey water.
Antibiotics are usually not required in such cases.
These medicines that I have mentioned are considered relatively safe in breast feeding.
I hope it helps you.
If you have any further query, please ask me.

Hi XXXXXXX

Thanks for your answer.

I had taken my wife to an internal medicine specialist just to get a thorough check up. She suggested Dolo 600mg 3 times for 2 days+ Relent tablet for 3 days 2 times a day+ Betadine Iodine Solution for gargle+ Steam inhalation.

But I read in some medicine details that Relent tablet should not be taken by the breast feeding mother.

Kindly let me know your views on this. Should she take Levocetrizine instead of Relent?

Thanks,
XXXX

Hi XXXXXXX

Thanks for your quick response.

Please confirm the dosage of Levocetrizine as one tablet once a day.

Should this be taken at morning or night and for how many days?

Thanks,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
I prefer only Levocetrizine.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
No drug is 100% safe in breast feeding. But we use medicines based on the clinical experiences.
So, I prefer to use Levocetrizine alone.
Relent is a combination of Cetrizine and Ambroxol which is not going to cause harm in short 2-3 day use but I usually avoid it.
So, my advice would be to take Levocetrizine and Dolo only.
If you have any further query, please ask me.

Brief Answer:
Detail follows

Detailed Answer:
Levocetrizine 5 mg. should be taken once daily in night time for 3-5 days.
Good luck.
