Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Vasculitis
Question: I bruise easily but recently have been having sudden unexplained circular, almost the size of a finger but some look like a hand grabbed me, on my legs from able to thigh as well as my arms from wrist to shoulder. They do not hurt or itch. Some of them are in clusters and there are some are just one and look almost like a line. They vary in size. Some look reddish and some look darker. However they are not raised. I was wondering why and what could be the cause of this. I'm concerned because they don't look like any bruises I've had before.

I noticed a few days ago. It started with just a few but then within a day or two my arms and legs are pretty much covered in them. It seems like some are starting to go away but at the same time more are appearing. I do not have diabetes. I don't have any thyroid issues. I have been tested very regularly since it runs in my family. I do smoke about a half a pack a day. The only medication I am currently on are lamictal for epilepsy and have been on that for a little over a year. Effexor for mood stabilizer as well as helping to cancel some of the aed side effects as have been on that for over a year. Omeprazole for about six years. And alprazolam for about at last six years possibly more

No it is not a side effect of the aed. That happens usually within days of starting it. I uploaded some pictures but that was from yesterday. I'll take some now and upload those as well. I planned on get labs drawn too. The "bruises " are not raised in anyway.
Brief Answer:
it looks like a coagulation problem or skin reaction
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied these images and It looks like a skin reaction to some medicines. You are right that medicines cause effect in with in few days of starting. But some time it can happen even when you are taking same medicines since years. So you need to check your medicines with your physician specially anti epileptics. Lamictal causes rashes in many patients even years after taking.
You also need to check your blood coagulopathy. It can be checked with BT, CT,PT tests. Once these tests are done we can plan further management. Just for caution do not rub these or apply any thing.
thanks
