Suggest Treatment For Tendonitis

Posted on Mon, 11 May 2015
Question: I just returned from walking and during the walk I experienced a sudden severe sharp pain on the bottom of my foot directly under the fourth toe (left foot next to little toe). I returned home and experienced pain every time I pressed down on foot. If I press that area with my finger I again have pain though I am not standing on it. Did I injure it in some way/
It may help to know that I am diabetic, but do not have weight issues as I am 5 feet tall and 101 lbs. I am in good shape and my HbA1c has been under 7 for the last 8 years. I do take farxinga and metformin as well.

Brief Answer:
?? Suspect trauma, stress fracture or tendonitis to be most likely

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. As the pain was acute (sudden) and occurred during physical exertion here are the possibilities ma'am:

+Trauma
+Tendonitis
+Diabetic ulcer or neuropathy (due to the presence of diabetes; but less likely due to well controlled HbA1c levels)
+Foot callus
+Stress fracture
+Cysts
+Ulcer (but should be seen superficially): You have not mentioned any such changes so we can rule this out

I would recommend a visit to a physician first, who would conduct a few investigations before finding the cause; but in my honest opinion trauma, tendonitis and stress fracture seem most likely.

I hope you find my response both helpful and informative. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.

Best wishes.
