Suggest Treatment For Tennis Elbow
I have no idea what I did to get this injury. It normally does not hurt when I'm teaching, but hurts like crazy off and on during the day. The pain seems to move around from elbo ,down to my fore arm. If I pick something up,or make a fist,or the worst, pump gas,it really hurts. It's been like this now for more than 2 months. My husband,a retired psychiatrist, thinks prednisone would fix it. But I 'd rather not take a steroid.HELP!
Many other treatments are there.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through your query.
First point I want to clear you is that although the name tennis and golf elbow are related to games, but they may occur in non players also. It usually occurs due to overuse of arm, forearm, and hand muscles that results in elbow pain.
No need to do blood tests or xray if there is no history of trauma to elbow joint.
Although its self-limiting but in some cases it needs treatment.
Holding a cold compress, such as a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a towel, against your elbow for a few minutes several times a day can help ease the pain.
Apply topical anti-inflammatory gel or topical cortisone gel, injection of steroid is needed in severe cases i.e patients who have severe pain that who can't do their routine works.
I advise you to wear brace around the top of the forearm, close to the area where the tendons of your forearm muscles originate, it will give rest to your muscles.
After pain is relieved you can gradually return to your usual activities.
If still not corrected then you may need a surgery.
I hope it helps.
