Brief Answer:
She needs more than banded treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for posting the query.

Tennis elbow is also called as " Lateral Epicondylitis "

In simple terms,it is a inflammation of the lateral epicondyle part of the arm bone ( humerus )

when you bend your elbow, the bony point which you can see and feel on the outer side of elbow,is the lateral epicondyle.

The muscles / tendons, that are required for forearm and wrist movements are attached to this part. When this area gets inflammed by any trauma or liftting heavy weight, then it results in tennis elbow.

It is more common in tennis players, so it is called tennis elbow.

Only banded treatment would not be helpful. She needs to take anti-inflammatory tablets to reduce the inflammation. A low dose steroid therapy will help her to get pain relief faster.

Local analgesic gels and hot fomentation should help.

She should not lift heavy weight till all her pain has completely subsided.

A local steroid injection may be needed at the painful site,if she doesnt get relief by the above treatment.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Take care

Brief Answer:
No need for immediate consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

I dont think you need to consult a surgeon immediately unless her pain is very unbearable.

You can give her tablets containing combination of (Paracetamol + Aceclofenac+ serratiopeptidase )- whichever brand is available at your nearest chemist shop.

It should be taken twice a day, after meals- 1 in morning and other in night, preferably with a glass of milk.

Antacids should be taken 2 hours before taking the above tablet.

Any analgesic gel like Volini, Nise, Volitra gel can be used.

Give the above medicines for 5 days and let me know the result. Then we can plan the subsequent line of management.

Thank you.

Wish your wife a speedy recovery.
