As per your clinical details, most likely cause could be acute pharyngitis.

As such you are taking right medications, the dosage for tab.cefuroxime should be 500mg twice daily ( it's a adult dose, works in throat infections). Is there any reason why your doctor has prescribed you Cefuroxime 250mg? In case of mixed infections, it takes time to resolve. Have faith on your treating doctor.

Meantime, do salt water gargling and avoid consuming refrigerated and chilled products (curd/ice creams).
