Suggest Treatment For Throat Pain

Question: My daughter is 10 years old (going 11 in December). For the past 9 weeks she has been experiencing pain in her throat. She specifically does not want to eat anything that is hard in tacture. She has gravitated to eating foods that are smooth in taxture. She has lost 12 pounds during this whole ordeal (now wiehging approx. 56 pds). It was said that she had a sore thraot for 2 weeks, then they check her tonsils, thyroid and strap 2'x (all negative). They then treated her for Acid for about 2 weeks with nexium. She has recently been sent to the ENT and they had her go to the hospital to perform a acid test with the resiologist for acid (that was negative). I am at my wits end and I don't know what else to do.

1. An X-ray Skull lateral view for adenoid hypertrophy should be done.

2. A videolaryngoscopy (VL'Scopy) will help.

3. Upload the images, video and previous reports.

4, Change the medication to rabeprazole and a prokinetic (such as levosulpiride) for two weeks. Add Muciane Gel. A painkiller should be given (after meals).

5. An anti-allergic, medicated gargles and a bland diet should be given.

6. Follow up with the results.

Thank you, I think that will be the Dr's next move. This morning she woke up and expressed that her throat felt right. Could all of this be a sign of anxiety?
I meant she expressed her throat felt tight.

Probably a PND (mucus).

Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. She probably has a Post Nasal Drip (PND).

2. The PND causes most of these symptoms with possible overlay of anxiety.

3. Explain to her that this is very common at her age and will recover after treatment.

4. Check for snoring and moth breathing which causes drying of the throat and frequent sore throats.
