Brief Answer:
Start probiotics

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Infants are many a times 'gassy ' due to several reasons. Their gut is immature and gut flora may break down extra undigested sugars leading to gassy bowel. Also, inadequate burping and high lactose or sorbitol sugars in diet may aggravate the problem.

So, I would recommend you to take following measures to help him:
1. Start him on a probiotic such as enterogermina twice daily for a week. This will improve his gut flora and digestion.
2. Make him sit while feeding (as he is already 8 months) and burp him after breast feeds.
3. You may use colicaid drops if the colic seems to be severe.
4. Offer food before he is too hungry. This will reduce aerophagia associated with crying.
5. Avoid extra sweets, chocolates and juices
6. Many a times an oil massage over tummy in clockwise direction is helpful.
7. Application of heeng over navel at bedtime is an old method found useful.
8. Some breastfed babies may produce excessive gas when their mothers eat gas-forming vegetables, such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, brussels sprouts, beans, and onions. (Tell mother to avoid eating these foods)

Hopefully this will help you. Do not get disturbed by some flatus, as it's perfectly normal in infants. I would be happy to help you in any further questions.

Take care
