Suggest Treatment For Tingling And Pain In The Toes
different possible causes
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Abnormal sensations such as tingling can be related to the nerve or blood supply.
If you do not have any known issues with circulation then it is likely related to the nerves.
This would be called peripheral neuropathy since. Peripheral- nerves outside of the spinal cord or brain
Neuropathy- abnormal nerve function/structure causing symptoms such as tingling, burning, itching ,numbness, sticking etc
Diabetes, trauma are possible causes but there are others.
Other causes are: (1) vitamin b12 or folate deficiency
(2)liver disease
(3)kidney disease
(4)side effect of medication
(5)exposure to toxins
(6)neurological diseases such as MS,
(7)some autoimmune diseases and thyroid disease can also cause abnormal sensations
To find out the cause, you may want to consider testing of vitamin b12, folate levels, blood tests for liver and kidney disease, ESR (to check for inflammation- would go up in autoimmune disease)
Treatment would depend slightly on the cause but there are medications that help with these sensations eg lyrica, gabapentin, amitriptyline
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
