Question: my husband is experiencing what we think is a pinched nerve stemming from his neck...He has ankloysing spondalytis, and is on Remicade...He woke up last Tuesday with sever pain..We have been to Urgent Care, our family doctor, two orthopedics......they took xray xray looks okay.....I'm concerned as his hand and fingers are tingly and numb, and he is sweating...I am just concerned he could have some sort of clot,,,,,we tried Acupuncture yesterday for the first time..No relief yet from that treatment either...Our doctor is working with insurance to get MRI of spine approved until then, what else can we try and should we go to the ER with the numbness in fingers Please help.....

Brief Answer:
MRI spine is must

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I read the history and feel that your husband might need MRI of cervical spine to rule out any sinister problem.
It might be just spasm of muscles, it might be compression of nerves which leads to numbness...
MRI is the only way to confirm the diagnosis
There is no need to worry as in any way, it is treatable.
Till your doctor arrange MRI, I suggest to avoid lifting heavy items, avoid strenuous exercises, avoid jerks etc which can increase the problems.

Hope this will help
If you have any further queries, please donot hesitate...

Take care
