Suggest Treatment For Tinnitus

default
Posted on Thu, 9 Oct 2014
Question: I used a nasal irrigation for 5 days (100mls each nostril) and developed tinnitus which I've had for 11 days 24/24. It sounds like crickets, similar to what you hear on a summer might. My Dr said it will go away when my ears dry up but I would like your opinion, especially how long this will take or should I see an ENT specialist??
Many thanks XXXX

Brief Answer:
You are having tinnitus.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query.

As per your clinical history it appears that you are having tinnitus. Tinnitus is multifactorial. Most likely it will subsides when eustachian tube inflammation will decrease & any fluid in ear come down.

If I were your treating doctor, I would advice you
Steam Inhalation twice daily ,
Paracetamol for inflammation ,
Antihistaminic levocetirizine + Montelukast combination in night &
Decongestant nasal drops - 3 drop each nostril thrice daily in nose for 7 days only .

If tinnitus not subsides in 7 days , then consultation with your ENT doctor became essential.

Hope this information helpful to you .If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Regards.

Thanks for advice. Was wondering if it was for my sinuses which have now cleared or to help stop the tinnitus? Also you advised seeing an ENT specialist after 7days, it's already been 12 so should I ask for a referral?
