Question: I have tinnitus. At times it is very loud. This past weekend I was in the ER with BP of 200/100. It seems directly connected to elevated BP. I take metoprolol 25 mg daily. This happens frequently . No one has an answer. Do you have any suggestions? YYYY@YYYY

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome

I appreciate your concern

The blood pressure is too high. If this reading is persistent then its stage 3 hypertension. Metoprolol alone is insufficient to control the BP. This description can indicate a TIA or central nervous system cause for the vertigo.

kindly answer the following to advise further.

Are you taking any antihypertensive medication besides the metoprolol
Have you had an ambulatory blood pressure monitoring done previously
How are your ldl and cholesterol numbers. have you had them tested recently.

let me know if you have any query

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
